2009 I-Codes and Green Building Provided by The International Code Council
This seminar provides an overview of current green building practices and how the International Codes support green building. The long-standing role of building codes in sustainable buildings is explained and the specific green features of the International Codes is explored. Participants will gain knowledge of how requirements for green building features interact with International Codes requirements. This seminar is appropriate for planning staff, architects, engineers, contractors, building officials and building and residential inspectors with entry-level through advanced knowledge of the I-Codes.
Building Performance Measurement Provided by Stetz Consulting
Quantifying energy use and emissions reductions is critical to understanding how buildings actually work. The Building Performance Measurement workshop describes how to assess energy use performance in non-residential buildings seeking LEED for New Construction (BD+C) or LEED for Exisiting Buildings: Operations & Maintenance certification. This workshop is intended for engineers, commissioning agents and facility managers with energy management experience who want a better understanding of their building’s actual performance and how to measure it. EPA’s Portfolio Manager and data logging hardware demonstrations will be provided.
Incorporating LEED into Project Specifications Provided by Construction Specifications Institute
This course provides attendees with an understanding of the importance of specifications in documenting LEED requirements following CSI’s recommended practices and formats. The course also explains the need for an integrated team approach to achieve LEED/sustainable goals on a project and the critical function of the specifier on that team. Attendees will learn how to find, evaluate and specify appropriate green products, materials, systems and construction procedures and, lastly, how to implement these specified techniques during the construction phase.

Practical Strategies for Calculating & Reducing Your Carbon Footprint Provided by Facility Engineering Associates, PC

We will identify why carbon footprint is important and how it relates to existing buildings. Sustainable Design Charrette Workshop Provided by Fore Solutions
This charrette workshop will cover how to conduct a sustainable design charrette through participation. Following a short introduction, a local project will be used to facilitate a design charrette. It will commence to include role-playing of key stakeholders. The course instructor will be the charrette facilitator, and participants will learn by interactive participation and observation. The half-day course will conclude with a discussion on the effects a sustainable design emphasis in the design charrette process.
